Laura West, Christian Comedian & Inspirational Speaker
Believing Proverbs 17:22 which says, “a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones,” my primary goal is to use good, clean comedy and some real-life stories and testimonies to encourage you…while we laugh and sometimes cry together.
Whether I share my or my family’s testimony or speak on any of several other topics such as “burst your bubble of bellyaching,” “shake it off,” “how to go from the mire to the choir,” “learn to die laughing” or a topic specifically written for your gathering, not only will your heart feel better, we will have a time remembered by all and lives will be changed.

Laura partnered with us in our Women’s Ministry holiday event, “A Brighter Christmas.” As a featured guest speaker, I appreciated how easy and reliable she was to work with. It’s not often that a speaker bridges the gap to inspire all generations from teens to senior adults, touching those just discovering Jesus to those seasoned in their faith, but Laura did just that. Her humor softened hearts and prepared the way for the sharing of her family’s profound story and for the challenging of each listener. Our hearts where full with the good medicine of laughter and the truth of God’s great love for each of us. Maleka’s ministry of music added to the treasure they shared with us and put our holiday season into perspective. Every soul looked forward in a fresh way to seeing Jesus face to face! Many families on the adoption or foster care journey were encouraged as Laura’s story helped to renew their calling. There’s no doubt that Christmas will be brighter in and around each woman who was there, because of the blessing of Laura West.
Laura and John have done something very few people could do. Maleka is just one of over 100 children they have given their life, heart, finances and their time to show abiding love and compassion. Their story will not only bless you but it will challenge you to look at the opportunities around you where you can powerfully and lovingly affect the lives of others. I have been with this precious couple on numerous occasions. They are for real; no motive in their heart is selfish. They do believe it is more blessed to give than receive.Evangelist Bailey Smith - PresidentSouthern Baptist Convention
Laura’s life is a wonderful testimony of God’s love. She has a unique blend of being able to be serious one moment bringing you to tears, and the next filling your heart with laughter and inspiration. God has gifted her to be able to show the love of Christ in so many different and effective ways.Pastor Frankie Carroll

In 2009, I had the honor and privilege to hear Laura West speak at Madison Avenue Baptist church in Maryville, TN. Her life story will simply overwhelm you. She has a heart full of love and kindness for everyone she meets, especially for less fortunate children. She blessed us through song and words of a very powerful message regarding her life journey with her adopted daughter, Maleka, who I had the pleasure of meeting that day. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to have heard Laura speak and also to have heard Maleka sing. I hope you will be given the same opportunity to meet Laura and Maleka and receive the same joy that I received. I look forward to inviting Laura and Maleka back to our church in the near future. If you have any questions regarding their previous engagement with our church, I am happy to speak with you at your convenience.Fern Williams
I am writing this letter on behalf of the United Methodist Women of Washington Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. We have been fortunate enough to hear the witness of Laura West at two of our meetings. Our groups were so blessed by Laura’s wonderful, God-given spirit and would recommend you consider including her in your upcoming events. You will not be disappointed.Heather Jones

Laura’s message is one the you will never forget. She spoke recently at our Di’s Hope Women’s Conference in Cuba, Alabama and what a blessing we received. Her delivery plays on all emotions, laughter, tears and a deep sense of longing to be better than we are. We will never forget Maleka. This precious child stood before us and sang with a voice that only God could have given her. Our hearts were filled. Laura is a speaker that no one should miss. It is our desire that she will return to our conference.Pam WooldridgeConference Coordinator
